Transportation Container for Surface and Wellbore Equipment (Kit-Box) Applications
Designation
The kit box is used for the transportation and storage of surface and downhole MWD tools.
Design features
The container box is a welded structure comprising a frame made of profiled steel tubing and an outer casing fabricated from aluminum sheets. Inside the box are specially designed foam or molded inserts (cradles) with contoured recesses for securely holding MWD system modules. These cradles are equipped with retaining pins that prevent the modules from dislodging during transport or handling.
A dedicated document pocket is integrated into the interior of the box for storing technical documentation. The container lid is also clad with aluminum sheets. It is hinged to the box and equipped with gas shock absorbers and mechanical stops to prevent unintended or accidental closure. Chains are installed to limit the maximum opening angle of the lid. A rubber gasket is fitted between the lid and the box to ensure a moisture-resistant seal and prevent water ingress. Additionally, the container floor features a drain hole with an airtight plug to allow safe removal of any accumulated condensate.
